A Visualping alternative that logs values to Google Sheets

Updated

Choose BrowseWiz when you want the changing values in a Google Sheet, not just an alert. A scheduled run clicks through pages, even ones you sign into, and logs each value. A monitor alerts you when a change matches your words. Stay with Visualping for round-the-clock cloud checks, visual diffs, email and Slack alerts, and scale.

In Google Sheets, Visualping logs the alert. BrowseWiz logs the values.

Visualping's built-in Google Sheets integration, on Business plans, adds a row each time a change triggers an alert. Its 26 set columns include the page URL, screenshot links, the added and removed text and an AI summary Source 5. Columns of your own, from custom data extraction, come with its Solutions plan Source 4, sold by quote Source 2.

A scheduled run writes the columns you name instead, such as bill, status and last action. It runs the search and works through every results page, so each row is one item, not one changed page.

The trade-off is timing. Visualping's cloud monitors log a change at their next check, even with your computer off. BrowseWiz logs only at scheduled runs, at most hourly, and only while Chrome is open.

Log every bill's status, across every results page

Type one message in the side panel and approve the plan:

What you type

Open the Westbrook Legislature's bill search, search for “short-term rental” and go through every results page. Add a row per bill to a new “Short-term rental bills” sheet: today's date, bill number, status, last action and link.

You grant tab access and sign in to Google once, then the sheet fills as it works.

The log after three runs

After Monday's chat run, each weekday's run adds a dated row per bill, keeping every status change. In this excerpt, SB 214 passes the Senate on Wednesday, and a new bill, HB 1130, turns up on results page 2.

Example: Short-term rental bills: 7 of 157 rows, three bills shown (fictional legislature)

How it works

  1. Run it once in chat

Approve the plan, then grant tab access and sign in to Google once when asked. The run works in the BrowseWiz Tabs group of your signed-in Chrome and fills a Google Sheet it created.

  2. Schedule the log

Click Update this sheet daily above the chat box. When it asks, say when and that each run adds new rows, such as “weekdays at 8:00, add new rows”, then approve the new plan. The scheduled task adds rows to the same sheet, daily on Free or up to hourly on Pro and Max, while Chrome is open.

  3. Add a monitor for the urgent change

For a change you can't wait on, ask in the chat: “Notify me when SB 214 is scheduled for a House vote.” It checks the bill's page about every 5 minutes while Chrome is open, and the first check only saves a starting point. A match alerts you in Chrome; click the alert to open its summary in History. See how monitors work.

Which one fits your job

Choose Visualping if…

  • Pages must be checked while your computer is off.
  • You want screenshots and visual diffs, not just text.
  • Alerts must reach email, SMS, Slack or Teams.
  • You watch hundreds of pages or need 2-minute checks.

Choose BrowseWiz if…

  • You want the values themselves in a Google Sheet, not a change summary.
  • The data sits behind a search, a login or several results pages.
  • You want a row per item and a plain-English alert in one tool, both on the free plan.

Where BrowseWiz falls short

  • Chrome has to be open. Scheduled runs and monitors stop while it's closed or your computer is off.
  • Signed out means no data. If a site signs you out, runs and monitors see only its sign-in page until you sign in again in Chrome.
  • About every 5 minutes, no faster. You can't set a monitor's interval.
  • No email, SMS, Slack or visual diffs. Alerts stay in Chrome and on your desktop, and monitors compare text, not screenshots.
  • One monitor on Free. Visualping's free plan covers 5 cloud pages Source 2 and unlimited local monitors Source 3.
  • Monitors don't write to Sheets. A log needs a scheduled task, and it writes only to sheets BrowseWiz created.
  • Runs can differ slightly. If you need identical output every run, a selector-based tool is safer.

Other Visualping alternatives

If you mostly need alerts, these are fair picks too.

  • Distill Web Monitor: a Chrome extension with 400,000 users Source 8. Local monitors can check every 5 seconds Source 9 and keep your login session Source 10.
  • changedetection.io: open source and free to self-host, with Browser Steps that log in or click before a check Source 11. Hosted, it costs $8.99/month for 5,000 watches Source 12.
  • PageCrawl: a cloud monitor whose free plan tracks 6 pages with 220 checks a month, at most hourly Source 13.

What it costs

BrowseWiz counts credits, not checks. A monitor check with no change makes no AI call; one with a change makes one call on the changed text. A scheduled run pays for the text it reads, and each step re-sends the chat. Reading a 30,000-character page and writing a short reply is about 7,500 × 5 + 500 × 30 ≈ 52,500 credits.

In Visualping's unit, if the bill search spans 3 results pages, checking them once a day takes at most 3 × 31 = 93 checks a month, inside Free's 150. Hourly, it's up to 3 × 24 × 31 = 2,232 checks: Personal 5K, $35/month or $300/year for 5,000 checks Source 2. Built-in Sheets rows start on Business, from $140/month; other plans need a webhook and Zapier Source 6. Either way, each row is one alert, not one bill. Prices exclude VAT.
