Backup & Sync
- Backup sync chat history (on by default): stores your chat histories in BrowseWiz cloud storage (Amazon Web Services). A single chat history is limited to about 400 KB of text: in a longer chat the earliest messages are kept, and the later ones aren't backed up. A chat you delete, or one dropped because you have more than 100, is deleted from cloud storage too.
- Back up everything except chats (on by default): stores your prompts, scheduled tasks, monitors, settings, custom models, custom tools and MCP servers in BrowseWiz cloud storage (Amazon Web Services), so you can use them on any device. API keys and other secrets stay on this device. A prompt, task, monitor, model, tool or server you delete is deleted from cloud storage too, and also removed from your other browsers when they next sync. A prompt over about 350 KB isn't backed up: it stays only in the browser where you saved it. A scheduled task or monitor restored on another browser starts paused there, each task runs in one browser at a time, and each monitor is checked in one browser at a time, starting with a fresh starting point in a new browser. See Scheduled tasks on more than one browser and Monitors on more than one browser.
- Settings backed up: theme, language, scheduled run notifications, the selected model, the built-in tool switches and the tools' settings (except the browser agent's "always allow" approval choice, which stays on each browser).
- Custom models, custom tools and MCP servers are backed up with their names, URLs and request headers, but without their API keys, the values of secret headers or MCP auth headers. On a new browser they're listed and ask for their secret: "Enter the API key on this device", "Enter this value on this device" or "Enter the auth header on this device". Until you enter it there, that model, tool or server fails. See Models and Tools.
Both switches are on unless you turned them off, and your choice belongs to your account: when you sign in on another browser or device, or after clearing your browser data, your backed-up chats, prompts, scheduled tasks, monitors, settings, custom models, tools and MCP servers come back right away, without opening Settings. Run results and monitor matches are chats in History, so they're backed up too.
Turning either switch off asks you to confirm, then deletes that data from BrowseWiz cloud storage and turns backup off for your account on every device. Turning off Back up everything except chats deletes your prompts, scheduled tasks, monitors, settings, custom models, tools and MCP servers from cloud storage. Everything on this device stays. If the delete fails, sync stays on and an error asks you to try again.
Signing out keeps your data on this browser for when you sign in again with the same account: chats, prompts, scheduled tasks, monitors, your OpenAI API key, custom models, custom tools, MCP servers and settings such as language and theme. Another account that signs in on this browser starts empty and doesn't see it. Your usage analytics choices apply to every account on this browser; backup choices follow the account that signs in. Chats, prompts, scheduled tasks, monitors, settings, custom models, tools and MCP servers you back up also stay in BrowseWiz cloud storage, along with your account settings. Your OpenAI API key and other secrets are never backed up.
Signing out also signs you out of browsewiz.com. Settings you change while signed out aren't kept: they're dropped the next time you sign in, and the signing-in account's own settings come back.
Privacy
- Usage analytics (on by default): helps improve BrowseWiz by sharing which features you use. Your chats and the pages you visit are never included.
- Link usage statistics to my account (off by default): when on, statistics sent while you're signed in include your account ID and a lasting install ID so the BrowseWiz team can see how BrowseWiz is used over time. Statistics sent while you're signed out stay anonymous. Turning it off deletes the install ID, and later statistics are no longer linked. It can't be changed while usage analytics is off.
- Share conversations when I rate responses (off by default): when you rate a response, the conversation up to it is also shared so the BrowseWiz team can improve responses. Turning it on asks for your consent first: choose Share conversations or Ratings only. Turning it off stops future sharing and deletes the conversations and comments you've already shared. Your ratings stay.
Links to the Privacy Policy and Terms are at the end of this section.
Email updates
- Stay informed about BrowseWiz (off until you opt in): receive product updates, new features, helpful tips, and special offers by email. The choice is saved to your BrowseWiz account. You can unsubscribe anytime. You can also opt in from the one-time Stay Updated with BrowseWiz dialog in the side panel (see Quick start).
