AI Models
BrowseWiz offers three ways to access AI models:
- BrowseWiz Chat: the built-in default model, ready to use once you sign in. No API key needed.
- Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): connect your OpenAI API key to use the OpenAI models your key can access.
- Custom Models: add any model via an OpenAI API-compatible endpoint.
Choosing a model
Click the model button at the left of the chat input. It shows the current model's icon; hover over it to see the model's name. The menu lists:
- Built-in models: BrowseWiz Chat.
- BYOK models: the models your OpenAI key can use, once you have saved a key. If they can't be loaded, the menu shows "Couldn't load models for your OpenAI key. Check it in Options → Models." instead, and tries again the next time you open the menu.
- Custom models: the custom models you added, and Add model, which opens Options → Models.
The Browser Use Agent, scheduled tasks and monitors always run on BrowseWiz's own models, whichever model you pick.
What differs with your own model
With a BYOK or custom model:
- Rating: the thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons appear only on replies from BrowseWiz models. See Rate a response.
- Tools: every tool you have turned on is offered to the model. If your model doesn't support tool (function) calling, turn the tools off in the Tools menu.
- Images: whether the model can read images depends on the model. Attached images and screenshots are sent to whichever model is selected.
- Stays in this browser: your OpenAI key and custom models are kept only in this browser. They aren't backed up or synced to your other browsers, they stay when you sign out, and they aren't in the data export.
For details on configuring your models, see Options → Models.
