New chat

In the top menu the top-right icon button (New Chat) starts a new chat. After clicking it the current chat is saved in history.

While BrowseWiz is still working in the current chat (writing a response, browsing, or waiting for you to approve a plan), it asks Stop the current task? first. Click Keep working (or press Esc) to stay in the chat and let BrowseWiz finish, or Stop and switch to stop it and start the new chat. What it has done so far is saved in history. The same question appears when you open another chat from history, open a scheduled task or monitor, or click Open on a task alert while BrowseWiz is working.

tip

For optimal performance start a new chat every time you do not need a model to see earlier messages.

Long chats

When a chat gets long, its earlier messages are summarized to keep answers fast and accurate:

  • BrowseWiz Chat summarizes them on its own before answering (Summarizing chat history...).
  • Your own OpenAI key or a custom model: BrowseWiz asks first, with the notice "This chat is getting long. Summarize the earlier messages to keep answers fast and accurate?" Click Summarize to summarize the earlier messages. If that fails, a notice says "Couldn't summarize this chat. Try again." If you close the notice instead, it doesn't come back for the next 6 messages.

Send a message

Press Enter to send your message. Press Shift + Enter to start a new line.

Stop a response

While a response is being written, a square stop button appears in the message input. Click it to stop the response.

First prompt suggestion

When the browser agent is on and the selected model supports tools, an empty new chat can show a button above the input, while the input is empty, that suggests a task: usually Schedule a daily news summary or Find used car bargains daily. If you installed BrowseWiz from one of the use-case pages on browsewiz.com, it suggests that page's task instead: Track competitor prices daily, Update a sheet from a website daily or Copy data from a site I'm signed into. Each browser keeps the same one. Click it to ask BrowseWiz for that task, most of them as a daily scheduled task. For the news summary and used car bargains, BrowseWiz suggests the details (websites, topics and format, or sites, cars and what counts as a bargain); for the others, it asks you which sites and data you want and suggests the sheet's columns. You can adjust the plan before you approve it. Click × next to the button to hide it for good. It also stops appearing once you have created a scheduled task.
